7 Ways for a Snorer to Get 7 Hours of Sleep Each Night

1.     Sleep with Your Head to the Side

Snoring occurs when the muscles in the back of the tongue and soft palate fall against the back of the throat, blocking the airways. To prevent this from happening, you may need to adjust your sleep position. Sleeping on your back had make the condition work. But if you assume a different sleep position, like sleeping on the side, that will lessen the impact of the muscles relaxing. If you are wondering how to stop snoring, this is the closest it gets.

2.     Use an Anti-Snoring Device

Anti-snoring devices can prevent certain conditions that lead to snoring. For example, some aids are designed to prevent you from sleeping on your back. Other’s support your head and jaw so they are positioned in a manner to prevent the back of the throat from getting blocked. Anti-snoring devices may not entirely stop snoring, but they can reduce it from occurring.

3.     Buy a New Pillow

Your pillow may be a culprit in worsening your snoring condition. The pillow should be able to support your head comfortably without leading to a bad head position that leads to snoring. So, if you think your pillow in uncomfortable, buy a new one. Memory foam pillows and neck support pillows are quite good at keeping the nasal passageway open.

4.     Use Sleep Aids to Eliminate Disruptions

6.     Don’t Drink Coffee in the Afternoon

Coffee is a stimulant. Drinking coffee will keep you awake at night and disrupt your sleeping cycles. People who are overtired are more likely to snore. So, make sure you fall asleep by avoiding coffee after lunchtime.

7.     Drink More Water

Some people may snore when the mucus lining dries up. This happens when you don’t drink plenty of water during the day. If you feel your nose is a bit too dry at night, drink about half a glass of water before bed. Do not drink too much water close to bedtime because you might need to wake up at night to go to the bathroom. It’s better to drink plenty of water during daytime.

Following the above tips can only alleviate snoring. Please keep in mind that there is no “cure” for snoring. It’s a condition that can be managed, if you are committed properly.
