To meditate in the right way a positive attitude is required; equally important is the physical posture. It is nearly impossible in a normal situation, to sleep in shirshasana, the head-stand posture. But it is pretty easy to doze off while lying down or even while sitting. Thus, when the body is in a comfortable position, sleep comes naturally. But in the standing position it is quite difficult to fall asleep. For meditation the right posture is a definite pre-requisite. If the spine is not erect but curved, the gravitational pull of the earth has a greater effect on the body – you feel like relaxing and there is an inclination to lie down.

Most of the people will say, Oh no…I don’t create stress, but I get stressed because people hurt and torture me. The truth is that until and unless you are not ready to absorb the negativity of other people you cannot be frustrated or unhappy. You become stressed only when you open doors of your mind and take in negativities of others. This is how you end up being upset – if you don’t take in the negativities

This system teaches maintenance and protection of the whole person – mind, body and soul. Ayurvedic medicine is based on an individual’s characteristics and body frame rather than being oriented towards treating disease or sickness. Each of us is made of a combination of the three doshas which are comprised of five universal elements: Space, air, earth, fire and water

But one thing is common to them for sure, and that is that they cannot stay away from one another. Nothing can separate them, not even their multiple differences. A boy and a girl are apart only at the toddler stage, but once the hormone glands become active, nothing can stop them from coming together. Men can’t live without women or women without men. The truth is that nature has created these differences for a purpose. As the saying goes: Opposites will always attract.

Although everyone wants to be happy, yet everyone does all the things which create the reasons for more and more unhappiness. It is very important to understand one thing: that one cannot live in peace if one is in bondage. If a person is bound in physical chains then that is a physical bondage that is very visible, but when the chains are invisible and subtle, then it is more difficult to overcome them. In the Hindi language the word for animal is ‘pashu’; the root of the word ‘pashu’ is ‘pash’ which means rope. Hence the meaning of ‘pashu’ is one who

These glands start functioning around teenage and they release chemicals called hormones. In the brain, the hypothalamus and the pituitary control the functioning of these glands. The male hormone testosterone is produced by the testes and the female hormones progesterone and estrogen are produced by the ovaries.

We are not new on this earth, we have been born here many times, and in each life we made a home, had a family, had some kind of livelihood and had friends and enemies. We were never idle even in the past births – we were doing something (good or bad) and every action that we did is

This resistance movement spread to other parts of the country. On 10 March 1959 the capital of Tibet, Lhasa, exploded with the largest demonstration in Tibetan history, calling on China to leave Tibet and reaffirming Tibet’s independence. The Tibetan National Uprising was brutally crushed by the Chinese army. His Holiness escaped to India where he was given political asylum. Some 80,000 Tibetan refugees followed His Holiness into exile. Today, there are more than 120,000 Tibetan

Zen is new and distinct from every other religion. The root of Zen is in Buddhism, but I say that Buddhism has flowered in Zen. In the lifetime of the Buddha, his work brought about a revolutionary change in society, but once he was gone, his charisma too started waning. In his lifetime, the hindu priests, pundits and scholars could do nothing to stop his mission. Buddha was an extraordinarily intelligent man.

Defying definition, pragmatic, realistic, of liberal views, she is open-minded like the sky and intense like space. Gurumaa had a wonderful childhood – when other children were learning nursery rhymes, she was listening to the philosophy of Vedanta. While other children dreamt of dolls and cars, she was learning the art of awakening from dreams. A bubbly spirited teenager, she was not seen with girls of her age but with yogis and gurus. Meditating and lovingly serving spiritual masters

Meditation is moving in the inner zone of emptiness, where stress can never touch you. It is exploring the inner space where you remain absolutely untouched from all ill effects of mind and samsara. This inner space is there and we need just the right method to move there, once you have understood and experienced nothing can bring you down from that timeless zone. Being in this zone means, being an ocean of joy. It is not just getting little glimpses of joy for some time and then back in rut. This had been a great dilemma of all meditators; as long as they are doing it, they feel good, elated, happy, enlightened, but moment they come out of the place where they meditate

There is a profound relationship between meditation and creativity. A non-meditative person cannot be really a creative person. Now sometimes people are allergic to the word “Meditation”.

You have to be a complete person to become an embodiment of love. And then you will attract people. Then you don’t have to run for the people’s attention. Now you are doing everything to get attention – someone should notice your dress, your way of talking, everything.
Sex is a very small part of your bio-energy. It is given by nature to all beings. No one trains you to feel sexual. Yet you know it is there. What is required is to understand it and to face all the feelings that it arouses, rather than resorting to the centuries-old habit of repression and suppression.
It is a natural instinct which grows as the body grows. The hormonal and chemical changes bring forth the urge for sex. Our rishis have never ever condemned it – no wonder that most of them led a married life. Our ancestors never gave us this theory that celibacy is more pious and greater than indulgence.
Mr. Arun Sharma woke up to the sound of his alarm clock screeching, turned on the television for the latest news, brushed his teeth with an electric toothbrush, warmed his breakfast in the microwave, slipped into the car and parked it at the metro train station. He used the escalators to reach the ticket window and as he bought the ticket, he was informed by the electronically preprogrammed voice that the train would be arriving punctually in 1 minute, and after he boarded the centrally air-conditioned train, he checked his schedule on his laptop while talking on the mobile phone. Finally, when he reached his destination, he exited the train station by slipping the ticket in to an electronic barrier and chose to walk the remaining distance to his office. Phew!! Let this be noted, all this use of technology occurred before 9 AM. Times have surely changed.
