Life Time Thoughts

Shavasan is lying flat on the ground, keeping all the body loosened up, palms towards the sky, head to roll on one side and each and every pore of the body loosened up , just be in a very relaxed; let go situation.
Now somebody can ask, ” Why can’t we do whole meditation in shavasan that we begin with the shavasan directly?”
Well, that won’t be possible for an immature, a person who has just started the journey of meditation, because the moment your body relaxes, the moment your body is in totally relaxed position, you will fall asleep. When there is not anything physically to do, in any situation, when there is not anything physically to do, what happens to people? People dose off.

“Life in its true purity has to be enjoyed, has to be tasted, has to be celebrated, but it isn’t possible until and unless a person is awakened enough to admire the beauty.”

Do the meditation for twenty minutes to twenty five minutes and if your arthritis is giving you problem or your knees are giving you a trouble then, lie down in a shavasan!

I will give an example. In traveling- you are travelling in a car, you are traveling in a plane, you are traveling in a train. Now while traveling you have nothing to do! You already read the newspaper…! And I wonder; in what way people read the newspaper! They will read all the news, yes, it was supposed to be read, because newspaper is for reading the news, but then they will read each and every small and bigger advertisement. Though the person doesn’t smoke, but still he would read the advertisement of cigarettes - Marlboro, Red Hill. Even though he is not a smoking guy, but still the eyes would go one all those advertisements. And these days there are dozens of advertisements of those so called ‘Hakeems’, the Indian pseudo, fake ayurvedic doctors who profess that they have a remedy to boost up your sex, to boost up your energy, vitality, vigor. And you might have nothing to do with that, but still you will read that.
I have seen people reading even the obituary information also: ‘whose father has died or whose son has died’. They are absolutely not related to you, but still you are reading it.
I have seen some people who will even read what is the name of the publisher, what is the name of the editor, the place from where it is got published and what will be the price if you buy the same newspaper overseas! What the hell?
While traveling you read the newspaper. Done! Now what to do? Then you chat with your co-passengers. Where are you going? What a stupid question! If the train is plying from Amritsar to Delhi- Shatabdi Express and the ultimate stop is Delhi then the question- ‘Where are you going?’ is a very stupid question!
And you know the passenger will also answer: ‘Delhi;. Both are equal. Both people are asleep. You may chat for a while, and then when all the information have been exchanged, then you sit quiet, the person sits quiet, and then what is going to happen? You will dose off. You may go for a walk; you may go to the toilet and again come back on the seat and now? Nothing to do! The moment you have nothing to do, you fall asleep.
So if you begin your meditation right away from the Shavasan, the more chances are, the possibility is that you will fall asleep. So before going to the Shavasan, see to it, that a minimum time of twenty five to thirty minutes is spent doing the meditation sitting straight with the spine erect in the 90 degree angle.

meditation

At times life seems very boring. And out of this boredom comes aggression. What is the remedy for this? (Sonia Monga)
Boredom comes when something in life seems to be missing. Before understanding boredom, we must understand the working of mind. Mind is never at rest. Thoughts keep coming into our mind, one thought comes and the other goes. Our mind is a clutter of thoughts. Man is always aiming to give comfort to the mind. We are always entertaining one thought or other. And in this commotion we lose ourselves and suddenly a moment comes when we say what this happening to me is.

Meditation isn’t a feast to be done at one particular time of day or night that you closed your eyes, sat in a padmasan, did some pranayam etc. The flavour of the meditation has to spread out in all day.

Boredom is an inner call, which says that now I am fed up with the on going thought process. The mind appears stagnant, but in reality it is restless. This restlessness causes reaction. A kind of defence mechanism arises which can be termed as aggression. Absence of creativity is boredom.. Delve in the art of meditation; it brings out your creativity. For the first time you will realise what it feels like to be stable and tranquil. Stagnation or tranquility means stopping, but it has a different flavour to it. Learn to get connected to your deeper side to this ocean, so calm and restful. Take a dive. It can only happen through meditation. Meditation is a plunge in your inner ocean.

PERMANENCE OF CHANGE

Nothing is permanent but the change. Everything else changes around us. The seasons, the weathers, day-night, months, weeks; everything changes. This change is a permanent happening. And this is wrong on our part to say that everything should remain as it is, and nothing should change. Because if this change doesn’t happen, then the growth will also not happen. The growth which has occurred in your body, in your mind has happened because of this continuous change.
The body changes, the mind changes, the intellect changes, the senses change. But someone doesn’t change. The Vedas don’t say that you don’t change. They gave a new name. They said Atma doesn’t change. Now the soul, the Atma has always been there from the very beginning and that’s the very reason that we don’t take notice of it. We are not aware of it. Because, it has been eternally the same, the non-changeable. And it is so permanently the same, eternally the same that we miss it. We are missing our own true being. We take notice of the body, we take notice of the mind, we take notice of the changing thoughts and feelings and sensations and we think about them, we become one with them. We know them. We get identified with them. But we don’t take notice of our own true self or Atma. Because it is absolutely non-changing, eternally the same.
So the whole spiritual effort is to find the non changeable amidst the changeable, to find the eternal amongst these non-eternal ones, to seek the real center. And only those who become aware that there is something which doesn’t change, only those will take notice of it. So now for a change, you have to bring your awareness from others to self.
